Growing Milk Teeth The 1st set of teeth, or milk-teeth as they are known as, are twenty in number; they normally appear in pairs, and those with the lower jaw generally precede the corresponding ones in the upper. The very first on the milk-teeth is commonly cut about the sixth or seventh month, and also the last on the set at different periods from the twentieth for the thirtieth months. Thus the entire period occupied by the very first dentition might be estimated at from a year and a half to two years.
